Do you supplement with “D”? If not, it may be wise to consider. Our skin can produce Vitamin D when exposed to sunlight. But, you may not have enough exposure to sunlight due to sedentary lifestyle or even use of sunscreen which can blunt Vitamin D production. Adequate Vitamin D levels are important. So important, we have included Vitamin D as one of our “Vital 5” supplements. DO, DONT & WHY:DO supplement with Vitamin D3 liquid or liquid gels. Most can take 1000 units daily but post-menopausal women or pregnant women may benefit from 2000 units daily.DON’T take daily mega doses. If you are known to be Vitamin D deficient, doses of 7000 units daily for a couple of months may be appropriate before moving to the 1000 to 2000 unit daily dose. WHY? Vitamin D is important for maintaining proper bone health. Vitamin D deficient patients may be more susceptible to upper respiratory infections, so supplementing to a normal level may lower risk of infections.
